Yes, non-woven bags are a type of eco-friendly bag.

Non-woven bags are made from materials such as polypropylene (PP) through processes like meltblowing and spunbonding. They are reusable and biodegradable, making them more environmentally friendly than traditional plastic bags.

From a material perspective, polypropylene, the main raw material of non-woven fabric, is a thermoplastic resin with a stable chemical structure. It is non-toxic and odorless and can gradually degrade through ultraviolet radiation or microbial action. According to data from the China Industrial Textiles Industry Association, high-quality non-woven bags can decompose into carbon dioxide and water in natural environments within 3-5 years, with a degradation rate of over 60%.

In terms of environmental performance, non-woven bags have three major advantages:

Reusability: The average lifespan can reach over 50 times, which is 10 times that of ordinary plastic bags.
Low energy consumption production: Production energy consumption is only 1/10 of that of cotton bags.
Recycling rate: Currently, the industry recycling rate is about 30%, and recycling can be achieved through hot melt re-granulation technology.

It should be noted that not all non-woven bags are completely environmentally friendly. Some low-priced products contain fillers such as calcium carbonate, which can reduce their degradation performance; azo dyes used in the dyeing process may also cause pollution. It is recommended to choose products that are OEKO-TEX® certified or meet the GB/T 28021-2011 standard.

In terms of applications, non-woven bags have gradually replaced plastic bags for:

Supermarket shopping (load-bearing capacity up to 10kg)
Exhibition promotion (can print complex patterns)
Agricultural product packaging (good breathability)
Currently, the industry is developing fully bio-based non-woven fabrics using materials such as polylactic acid (PLA), which can shorten the degradation cycle to within one year. This will be the development direction for the next generation of environmentally friendly bags.
