In major shopping malls and supermarkets in Shenzhen, merchants sell or give away free eco-friendly shopping bags in various colors, thicknesses, and dozens of varieties.
Yesterday, a merchant specializing in plastic packaging bags at the Huaqiangbei Metro Mall told reporters that they had specifically increased the quantity of non-woven eco-friendly bags. A shop owner specializing in plastic packaging bags at the Sungang Road market told reporters that the eco-friendly bags sold in the market are all made of a material called non-woven fabric, which can be used frequently and is relatively environmentally friendly.
The introduction of the plastic restriction order has also prompted some ordinary plastic bag manufacturers and retailers to seek transformation to cope with market changes. A large eco-friendly bag manufacturer told reporters that in 1999 there were only 20 non-woven fabric production lines nationwide, but now there are 300.
A representative of the Shenzhen Textile Industry Association stated that the "plastic restriction order" has brought business opportunities to the non-woven fabric industry. Many companies have already widely cooperated with other textile and plastic manufacturers, leveraging existing channels and sales relationships to fully penetrate the consumer market with their eco-friendly bags.
